1.  I think Melanie is referring to how poor she was and how she never really had indoor plumbing when she was younger and that was the way she grew up which shaped her into who she is because she was afraid of what people would say.
2. I think when she says this statement that she is talking about the people who are judging , the people who are mean and make fun of poor people. In the text she states " If a white trash child made the mistake of catching a softball during recess, the other children made an elaborate show of wiping it clean before they would touch it." This goes to show how low and sad these people are and they are the ones who should be ashamed.
5. I do not think that Scheller would have experienced poverty the same way is she had lived in the kind of Thai village Murray describes because his was an imaginary thing that he was using to get people to picture themselves in poverty. but Melanie's poverty was real and can not really compare.
6. Scheller's poverty experience mostly resembles Barbara's story because they both had very little money and very little things. They were not materialistic at all and they both lived in a small apartment.

3. I think this story is overblown because if you are going into a marriage having trust issues then you should not be married at all. If you go into a marriage you have to be willing to trust your spouse with your life, and always be honest about everything you do especially financial stuff.
4. The top financial betrayal to me is when the husband said he made a certain income but he actually was making way more than what he had said. This is the biggest problem because it shows he really does not trust his wife and it makes me question why they are even married. It is also a problem because it shows that he is a liar. The second one is when the wife discovered gambling and spent all the money. This is not a good thing because it shows her and her husband do not have good communication with each other.
5. I think the story about the husband claiming he makes less than what he actually makes has a connection to "Twenty Grand" because her husband also lied to her and did not tell her how much the coin was actually worth when she thought it was less.
