"Wings" Summaries

The American Myth
This essay is about the so called American dream. She talks about how people use it as a motivational things. She talks about that Americans only want to belong in this world and be up with the trends. Such as having an apple phone . Today people do not look up to our American heroes as much, we look up more to actors and celebrities. Reaching the American Dream just gives people hope it is not necessarily a certain dream where you have to have a certain job, so she states that it can not be crushed.

No Imprisonment for Nonviolent Crimes
She talks about how the world is faced with a large number of imprisoned people. There are a lot of prison overcrowding. She is saying that a lot of the spaces in the prisons are being used for nonviolent crimes, when we should be using those spaces for violent crimes. Some prisons are so packed that they have three people bunkbeds. Locking up prisoners for longer periods of time will reduce the bad things that happen in the real world.  The United States should be picky about who they send to prison.
